Man Shot Dead Inside Car In Chester

Authorities in Delaware County are investigating after a man was found dead inside a car in Chester Tuesday night.

Officers responded to 3rd and Engle Streets around 9:35 p.m. on a report of shots fired, which was later upgraded to a shooting, Chester police said.

Officers then received reports that a person was shot in a vehicle located in the area of 3rd and Jeffrey Streets, police said.

Police discovered a black Hyundai Sonata occupied by a man who was later identified as Marvin Mayfield, 34, according to Chester police.

Mayfield was unresponsive and had sustained numerous gunshot wounds to his upper torso area, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Crozer Chester Medical Center.
